i was not the one to cry on weakness
i was not the one, rude on known faces
i was not the one who was harsh and abrupt
i was not the one to leave the place i loved
it was you, the situation
i was the one who struggled to survive
who kept on finding what was right
things are still puzzled, to my surprise
but dear difficulty,
i am not your summer bride
you still wonder how i continue to thrive
well, you won the game with a wrong drive!

A poem by Richa Shrivastav

you, the constant star beyond the sky
i know you are madly in love with me
you put me in trouble,
only to save from another
an experience inexplicable
a little salt in the table
i learned the lesson u wanted me to
you, the weirdest teacher
i thank you

you darling out there,
may be your ways could have been better
but you knew that was the only way ever
now, when your class is over
as i sail in the sea, sitting alone
somewhere i know, you will take a stand
holding my hand, you will put me on land
i got you, the constant gazer
you, holding that smile naughtiest ever
i thank you

office to home
living same life everyday
made me realize your importance
dear phone!

when in deep melancholy
from an utterly boring monotony’
i cried out for help
i found no one but you
two world i twirled into
real was too real to handle
i switched to virtual
i found friends there
in hundreds now i have
they confided with me every detail
oh believe me
i could tell who is eating what
facebook it called!!

you are a magic box
i can’t take my eyes off you
until they burn bad
you are like drug addiction
i feel helpless without you

and before i could understand
i welcomed myself into a world of loners
they were all like me
staring at you every single minute
the insta people
the twitterati
craving for more hits on like
more people to connect
hoping that would change the world
my belief on disbelieving real actions
grew stronger
my mind stuck to what went viral

and now
i can’t differentiate between real and virtual
 i am hallucinating
you are eating my mind
controlling my life
wish i could dump you
but you know all my secrets
you play programmed art well
modern world’s smart hell!

droplets of hope,
languished, stoked
numb and narrow,
soaked in sorrow
slippery cheeks,
crestfallen creeks

dire straits,
deadly debates
residue of life,
poisonous fates
once my partner,
since, closed gates!

Oh God!

predicament grave,
souls to save
what do i do?
bugaboo.. hullabaloo..

what do i have?
devastated desire,
a world on fire,
my partner’s ire!

delirious rave,
yesi did misbehave!

sitting on the window,
a hurricane encompassed
my wrists are frozen,
i just breathe on the glass

put me on yoke,
blow me in smoke
better send me to hallow
without her, i am but shallow

victory is in purse
i have nobody to defeat
silence is my curse,
i have no song to repeat

God, give me light
my partner, my sight
yes, i have low attention span
but i am still her man

my moon has sunk,
this darkness is drunk
 frail is my flame,
but my love has spunk

pining for you, my love
i go down and above
no more a human,
i am but a mournful dove

every breath i crop
oh, you have been missed
every tear i drop
oh, you have been kissed

if ever, there is god,
if ever, his glory
for all that, and more
my love, i am sorry!

light a candle in my heart,
 and burn every other wish
give me that dream we made,
that flicker in the iris!

You know you have found love, when you cannot find your way back.

- Robert Brault

we, the sensible Indians
as when it comes
understand the dire need of hour
so with full conscience,
 we give them this power
to rule over us
 a nation to serve

we, the sensible Indians
do not react to a politically driven act
are smart enough to not fall prey
for their hidden motives without knowing fact

we, the sensible Indians
put humanity above all the evil-isms
put ‘we’ before ‘i
put greater cause over minor
we can’t be fooled
goons can never play with 'nationalism'

we, the sensible Indians
keep calm!
who said - 'impulsive'
we know this showbiz game
wisely planted ideas
provocative, intolerant, repulsive

our minds can’t be tamed
we know what they aim
through selfish manifestos
hiding shame under fame
a chair to claim

we can’t be ruled over
on same formula again
they cannot divide us
for vote bank run
we, the sensible Indians
stand together
are united and one !!

here it goes
   a story
  a body, a soul
   and a life untold

here it goes
a song,
a pen, a diary
and i write
the words, the jumble
this pain, that fumble
happiness that lies
the melancholy inside
quotes to cite

here it goes
a heart that beats
a mind that reads
emotional or astute?
organic dispute!

here it goes
labyrinthine
a choice, a restraint
situations to complicate
bonds to reciprocate
muddled slate

here it goes
a painting
a brush, a sheet
colors to fill
and i draw
a road i never saw

here it goes
a dream to live
a tree for shade
receding sunrays
a sky to fly
a storm to blow
a sage,
 and a rainbow

here it goes
a dance
a music, a rhythm
a moment to dwell
inhibitions to quell

here it goes
a role to play
a legend to say
a stage, an audience

a feeling to express
a thought to process
anecdotes, folklore
rhymes, metaphor
and here it goes
a poem!

watched you all day,
through the window pane
that angelic grace,
even the roses couldn't feign

gawking your glow,
through the mountain side,
humbled by spotless shine,
wonder if sun must have died!

entrancing it's gaze,
through the evening's curtain
crease of that smile,
stole twilight's pristine fountain

come sit by my side,
touch my destiny's shore
bathe in rain of crimson bubbles,
pouring from my dreamy floor

heart is my paper,
ink, mediterranean wine
my words are jittery,
but silence has rhyme

riding on shoulder of night,
come flow.. meander.. swoon..
are you flustered with light?
i'll switch off the moon

And in her smile, I see something more beautiful than the stars.

take me to a place
 no man’s land
it disgust me everyday here
when will this stop

done asking for justice
every two minutes
one of me is a victim
of your mental sickness

treat me as human
i am not for amusement
where am i safe?
home or public place
alone or walking hand in hand

your eyes will trace me
no matter wherever i go
no matter what age i am
i cannot read your mind
how sick it can go!

they say you are strong
and i am weak
that you are to protect
fallacy i accept
then why don't i feel safe around?

the most unacceptable
shameful humiliating act
and yet you walk with presumption
they tell me to hide, cry, whine
to pretend everything is fine!

here i die in pain
all in vain
but you feel no shame

had they taught you well
what being 'real man' is
i would have lived more
smiled, danced, rejoiced
walked valiant, stood high
a world i can only imagine

my heart cries
as you mock, stare, snide
i don’t care what they say now
and i will fight
for my life, and battered pride!

through the eyes of the open casement,
i saw her flying all around
finding nest for her new ones
or making mere amendment

carrying love beneath her wings
unconscious of future happening
she worked from dawn till dim owl light
to toss away all grudges and fright

but who knows what mother nature shows
that comes out its way bears blows
then think of nest before it
a house of twig, a hut of grit

and there comes the rolling clouds
the lightening flashes, the thundering showers
that blew away the nest of grass
and all the dream that birdie draws

it leaves two things for the bird to mend
a broken hut, a broken heart
it challenged the winds of the sky
and waited for a message to be sent

that there it triumphs the devastation
with its twigs of courage and renewation
and flew along its way
saying 'after every night follows a shiny day'
